Publicly identifying a security clearance level increases security risk and may compromise personnel, organisations, or government operations.

Under the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), security clearance holders must not publish or display their security clearance level on any social media platform. This includes professional and employment focused platforms such as LinkedIn, as well as personal social media accounts.

Security clearance holders are also responsible for ensuring that their clearance level is not published by others, including employers, colleagues, recruiters, or third party services. If a reference to a security clearance level exists in any online profile or post, it must be removed immediately.

Compliance

It is the responsibility of clearance holders to ensure the following:

  • Do not include the security clearance level on social media or online profiles.
  • Regularly review online presence for any clearance references.
  • Take immediate action to remove any clearance information published by you or others.
  • Report any unresolved or unauthorised disclosure in accordance with PSPF incident reporting requirements.

Non-compliance

Failure to comply with this requirement is considered an unacceptable security risk and constitutes a reportable security incident under the PSPF.
